Giant's Bite and The Mast
This challenging walk takes you from the house-lined steep streets of Abercynon high up into the surrounding mountains overlooking Cynon Valley, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and the Brecon Beacons.
Climbing to almost 500m, the highlight is the Giant’s Bite, named so as it looks like a giant has taken a huge mouthful out of the rocks on the summit of the mountain!
In fact, the stone was removed to be used in the construction of some of the stunning railway viaducts that can be seen in the area.
After stopping for a “brew with a view” carry on along the saddle of the mountain with views for miles stretching out in all directions before climbing higher to the mast and the Trig Point.
