Aberdare Park
Enjoy a Victorian boating lake with paddle boats, large playground, splash pad and some incredible Welsh history!
Aberdare Park is on the outskirts of the town centre and is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle.
Grab a bite to eat from the on-site café and dine al fresco on one of the seats that surround the Victorian boating lake.
You can also buy bird feed for the geese that live on the lake and, on a dry day, take one of the swan or dragon paddle boats for a ride across the lake.
Little ones will love the adventure playground, which has swings, slides and a mini zipline.
From April to September, the Aquadare Splashpad is open – perfect for cooling off.
Don’t miss the stunning fountain by the café. It’s one of only three in the world, including one outside the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and was donated to Aberdare to mark the coronation of King George V in 1911.
Visit the mysterious Gorsedd Stones, which were installed when the park hosted the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 1956. Aberdare Park is home to Aberdare Festival and Aberdare Road Races, both hugely popular events that attract thousands of people each year.
