With its walks, waterfalls and more, RCT is the perfect place for dogs to bring their owners. We don’t just welcome them here, we love to see them enjoying adventures or sipping on a puppachino. Here are some dog-friendly places to stay and eat!
Gatto Lounge
Owners are welcome to join their dogs at this riverside eatery, which has indoor and outdoor dining – and doggie treats behind the counter.
You can also head for a walk along the river front and into beautiful Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, exploring the grounds, walking by the river or even picking up the Taff Trail, which runs from Cardiff to Brecon, right through Rhondda Cynon Taf!
Llechwen Hall Hotel
Your dog can put their paws up and dream of chasing cats in luxury and style at Llechwen Hall. This country house, set in stunning open countryside welcomes dogs.
Barry Sidings Countryside Park
This huge open space is a paradise for dogs and their owners. There are miles of trails through the park and up in to the surrounding mountains.

There are lakes, an adventure playground, bike pump tracks and trails and more.
Walnut Tree Junction
This chic little café in Taff’s Well serves an amazing range of hot and cold drinks and cakes – and dogs can get in on a slice of the action as well.
Miskin Manor
This historic former manor house has stunning gardens and an even better interior – and, yes, your four-legged Prince or Princess can stay in the luxury they have become accustomed to here!
The Lion
This vibrant town centre pub has a great food and drinks menu and often has events, such as live comedy, music and quizzes. Treorchy Male Voice Choir are known to visit and break into song after their rehearsals at the nearby Bethlehem Chapel.
The outdoor seating area is lovely and perfect for sociable pups.
Dare Valley Country Park
Another epic open space full of things to do, see – and smell! Dare Valley is home to Gravity, the UK’s first purpose-built family bike track. It offers mountainside trails, pump tracks and a balance bike course for little ones. Bike hire and uplift to the mountain trails is also offered.
There are loads of walks – from nature-filled lakeside trails to challenging mountain-top walks – to stretch those four legs and Café Cwtsh is not only dog-friendly, but dog welcoming, with doggie ice cream always on chill.
The on-site accommodation and caravan park also accept dogs.
The Bunch of Grapes
The award-winning Bunch of Grapes gastropub welcomes dogs, which is good news for owners who love dishes prepared with the freshest of local produce and ingredients.

Gwaelod y Garth Inn
Dogs have their own beer (water) tap in the garden at this landmark community pub – plus there are dog-friendly rooms if you wish to stay the night.
The Gwaelod stands at the foot of the huge Garth Mountain (we have a walking route up there if you are interested!) in the village of Taff’s Well, the location of the Hugh Grant film The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill And Came Down A Mountain.
The village DIY shop was also said to be the inspiration for Arkwrights in Open All Hours.
On a sunny (or even just dry) day, there is nothing as lovely as sitting on the decking of the Lakeside Café Bar, enjoying a coffee, a slush or even a glass of wine and watching the world go by.
Foodology Kitchen is a breakfast and brunch café that’s dog friendly and serves the most delicious food!
