Aberdare Audio Trail

Voiced by members of the Cynon Valley History Society, the Aberdare Audio Trail offers a unique insight into the history of the town. You'll be led around key landmarks within the town, such as The Market Hall, which was home to the first National Eisteddfod.Depicted by members, you'll also be told the stories of some incredible characters, including William Haggar, a pioneer of cinema who first showed his films in the town, and James Keir Hardie, who was notably the first leader of the Labour Party. The Aberdare Heritage Trail Leaflet, is a great complement to this trail with detailed information on the key parts of the route. The 1.2km walk will start and finish at the Duke Street Car Park and takes approximately 1 hour to complete. Pair the walk with a visit to Cynon Valley Museum (5 minutes from point 9), and delve further into the town's history; there's an onsite cafe too, Marty's, who offer delicious cakes and light bites. Please note the route is mainly flat, though there may be some uneven terrain.Download audio track
