Hugh Grant was the star of the movie “The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill, But Came Down A Mountain”, but Garth Mountain, the inspiration for the film, was the star of the show. Take the Garth Mountain route from Taff’s Well (map here) for a beautiful sunset.

Who loves to enjoy the colours of the sky and be steeped in history at the same time? Llantrisant is a hill top town with a castle, a 13th Century Guildhall and legends, myths and ghost stories going back centuries.
Dive into history via the audio trail or the walking trail and then pick up the Common Trail to head to the Billy Wynt, an ancient former windmill with an epic view.
Aberdare was known as the Queen of the Valleys, an historic town of industry, creativity and passion. It’s also where the first modern-day Eisteddfod was held. Find out more at Cynon Valley Museum. This shot from Aberdare mountain shows the sunset is definitely the Queen’s crowning glory.
