Penpych Lower Walk
This beautiful 3 km walk takes you through the woodlands that surround the base of the magnificent Penpych Mountain.
You can do this walk on its own or, for a bigger adventure, combine it with the climb to the summit of Penpych for some of the best views in South Wales.
Mother Nature has reclaimed land that was once used for coal mining. The Rhondda was one of the most intensely-mined areas in the world.
Now, it’s trees, greenery and streams, as you will see in this walk. Hike through forestry, discover the secret waterfalls and fairy pool dipping spot. Relax in nature and see if you can spot the Peregrines soaring overhead.
