Aberdare Park Walk
Join us on a 4km circuit of lovely Aberdare Park, just a short stroll from the town centre.
It was the first public park in Wales, opening over 150 years ago.
You will pass the ornate Coronation Fountain, which was gifted to the town in 1911 to mark the Coronation of King George V and Mary. It’s one of only a few in the world – another stands outside the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
Circle the café and Victorian boating lake – perhaps pause to take one of the dragon or swan boats out on the water, or to buy feed for the ducks and geese.
Pass the Bandstand to reach the top of the park, where there are benches to rest and enjoy the view. Travel down to the Gorsedd Circle, which was erected in 1956, when the National Eisteddfod came to Rhondda Cynon Taf and was held in the park.
