Llantrisant Guildhall

Llantrisant Guildhall is a fascinating heritage and visitors’ centre that tells the remarkable story of an ancient Welsh hilltop town.

The Grade II Listed Building has stood alongside the ruined Norman Castle for seven centuries. It has recently undergone a £1.4m restoration.

The beautiful Court Room is home to a collection of artefacts and treasures, including a rare 17th century silver mace which survived the English Civil War - it's older than the one in the House of Commons!

Learn more about the unique Freemen of Llantrisant, who received their charter in 1346 from the Lord of Glamorgan, shortly before they fought under the victorious Black Prince at the Battle of Crecy.

Children enjoy a variety of interactive displays, treasure hunts and competitions, plus Medieval-themed dressing up in the Archer’s Hall.

Many even attempt an archery competition of their own in a town that boasted its own army of trained longbowmen.

There are exhibitions to the eccentric Dr William Price, tales of bloodthirsty battles and captured kings of England to captivate visitors, plus a charming gift shop.

The elegant 14th century building is a popular venue for special occasions and is licensed as a wedding venue.

Private hire is also available for conferences or meetings and includes the use of a kitchen area and disabled access to both floors.
