Bronwydd Park
This small, but perfectly formed, park is a lovely place to explore – you can grab food to go from Porth town centre and enjoy it in the grounds.
As well as sports courts and a children’s play area, the park has stunning tree-lined avenues to explore, with views down to A Welsh Coal Mining Experience at Rhondda Heritage Park.
There’s a “pop” to the history of the park! Who remembers the bottles of Corona Pop that were delivered every week?
Or collecting the bottles to get the money back? Corona was made at the Welsh Water Factory from the 1890s.
While the factory is now a community hub – you can still see the names “Thomas and Evans” carved on the front. The factory is now a community hub but Bronwydd Park, owned by Thomas and Evans, was bestowed to the people of Porth.
